Can you be a Christian and be in a sorority?
This is a big question that many people have asked before. In this episode, Jorja Gust tackles how she was a Christian in a sorority and offers advice to other girls in the same situation. Jorja Gust went to Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville Tennessee, where she was an ADPi. She has one specific Instagram account called, “Jesus and Jo.” This is where she shares Jesus’s love for each of us individually. This passion led her to write a book called, “Besties with Jesus.” It is a 30-day devotional to grow deeper with our Savior.
Jorja Gust instantly fell in love with the community she made at Tennessee Tech. She became Chaplin of her sorority, which is where she opened chapter in prayer and led a weekly Bible study for her sisters. With this role, she offers great insight on how to navigate sorority life with God’s will for our life.
Jorja explains that we are called to stand out. Therefore, we can not conform to the things of this world. Furthermore, she points out that the Lord has made us different and unique. Jorja’s joy is not found in the worldly options offered at a frat party. Instead, it is found through following Jesus along with his plan for her life. She revealed that she can be a Christian and be in a sorority by truly seeking Jesus. In doing so, she focuses on becoming who God created her to be. For example, she can go to a frat party and be there for her sisters when they need it. What Jorja clung to was to love people as Jesus loves them.
